Mexico votes for a change; Leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador gets landslide victory


Leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was elected president of Mexo, winning a landslide in his country’s recent history.

Lopez Obrador got 53 per cent of the vote, according to preliminary results. Jose Antonio Meade, candidate for the ruling PRI, conceded defeat shortly after the first exit polls were announced.

Soon after the results, US president Donald Trump was quick to congratulate Lopez. “I look very much forward to working with him. There is much to be done that will benefit both the United States and Mexico,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lopez said that it was a triumph for all the world and all the people.
