The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its judgement on a plea by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientist S Nambi Narayanan seeking compensation and action against the police officers for implicating him in a spying case.
Nambi Narayanan had challenged the judgment of the Division Bench of the High Court of Kerala, which upheld the decision of the Kerala Government to drop disciplinary proceedings against the officials.
Narayanan is among the six accused in the case. The case was later handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation. In its final report to the chief judicial magistrate in April 1996, the CBI said there was lack of evidence to substantiate the charges.
Later, all the six accused were acquitted by a division bench of the Kerala High Court. The court had said there was no need to take action against the former director general of police and two retired Superintendent
