Kerala along with other states will Join Bharat Bandh on Monday against fuel price hike. Though there were reports that the state could be exempted from the nationwide hartal in view of the devastating floods, both the LDF and the UDF made it clear that there will not be any change in the hartal call.
With both the Fronts calling for the hartal, normal life is likely to be thrown out of gear. Public transport will be off the road, major business houses shut and educational institutions will remain closed.
The hartal was called in protest over fuel price hike and demanding to include petroleum products under GST.
The hartal will begin at 6 am and will end at 6 pm on Monday. However, the protestors said that relief activities in the flood-hit areas will not be affected by the hartal.
LDF convener A Vijayaraghavan had urged the people to support the hartal call in protest against the “Centre’s policies that has led to back-to-back fuel price hikes”. Kerala Congress president MM Hassan has also called for the same.
