Apart from works for supplying drinking water and construction of toilets in Sabarimala, the high level committee appointed by the supreme court has ordered to stop all other construction works in the forest land in the hill shrine.
The report submitted by secretary of high level committee Amarnath Shetty said that reconstruction or maintenance of buildings destroyed in recent flood in Pampa should not be allowed. The apex court will consider the report on Friday.
The report said that construction works for drinking water supply and toilets can be permitted until the supreme court approve the final masterplan. The report also calls for stringent action against illegal construction works in Pampa.
Environmental activist Prof. Sobheendran filed the petition in the apex court pointing out that the unauthorised construction in Sabarimala cause severe impact on the environment. The petition was under consideration of the court for a long time and later it appointed a high level committee for verifying the facts in it.
