The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has said that it would “if needed” take up an agitation similar to the one in 1992 to ensure the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya.
RSS spokesperson Bhaiyyaji Joshi said that they were ready to carry out a similar campaign like the 1992 rath yatra to press for its demand to build a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
The 1992 rath yatra conducted across the country under the leadership of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani had paved a base for the larger movement to build a Ram temple.
Expressing his disappointment over the Supreme Court delaying hearing the Ayodhya title suit, he said they were expecting good news before this Diwali.
The Supreme Court is hearing appeals filed against an Allahabad High Court judgment that had divided the land in three parts. This week, the Supreme Court said it would decide in January next year when to hear the appeals.
He also said that Hindus felt insulted after the court said its priorities are different.
On the demand for an ordinance to facilitate construction of Ram temple should go ahead, Joshi said it was for the government to decide Whether it can be brought in or not.
