Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid al-Falih has said that the United States should not try to dictate policy to OPEC.
Talking to reporters in Vienna ahead ogf a meeting of OPEC members, he said ‘’we do not need permission from anyone to cut.” He added taht the US was not in a position to tell them what to do. The mionister’s reaction comes a day after US President Donald Trump urged the cartel to keep the taps open so as to push prices down.
OPEC members and other oil-producing countries are meeting to prop up plunging prices. Falih said that they were looking for a sufficient cut to balance the market.
